Wright Patterson AFB
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is a U.S. Air Force installation where technical intelligence, research and acquisition work has been concentrated. The Air Force's early UFO projects ran from here, and later claims place crash-retrieval work here too.
The Air Technical Intelligence Center (established 21 May 1951) was chartered to exploit foreign aircraft and equipment. Its line began with Air Materiel Command's T-2 Intelligence at Wright Field in 1945 and ran Project Sign and Project Blue Book. Air Force Materiel Command is headquartered at the base. Its research laboratory is one of six centers, and its Life Cycle Management Center was activated here on 9 July 2012 in a reorganization. YouTube researcher UAP Gerb has alleged, without supporting evidence, that the Life Cycle Management Center's Information Protection Directorate protects UFO "legacy programs."
The story that Eric H. Wang headed a Wright-Patterson "special studies" office that reverse-engineered saucers traces to William Steinman's account of a 1984 call with Wang's widow; the documented office was an engineering group studying blast effects, which moved to Kirtland in 1956. Steinman also says Eric Walker acknowledged attending Wright-Patterson meetings about recovered discs in a 1987 call, for which no recording or transcript has surfaced.
David Grusch and other researchers describe an alleged 1954 transfer of recovered craft and materials away from military custody; the earlier holding site most often cited is the base's Foreign Technology Division.
