Air Force Research Laboratory
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is the Air Force's research organization and one of the six centers of Air Force Materiel Command. That command runs Air Force research, development, test, acquisition and sustainment from Wright-Patterson. UAP researchers take an interest in the command because it owns the Air Force's laboratory, acquisition and flight-test enterprise.
AFRL and Boeing developed CHAMP. Eric W. Davis, an astrophysicist and defense consultant, is tied to the laboratory. EarthTech's principals page, captured in February 2005, listed him as a contractor to the laboratory's Propulsion Directorate, Propellants Branch. No end date was found, and searches of two federal contract databases returned no matching records, which limits what can be shown rather than what exists. From 2019 to 2024 he supported AFRL, NASA and Office of the Secretary of Defense space-nuclear-propulsion projects as an engineer at The Aerospace Corporation.
