DARPA Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency

DARPA is the U.S. defense agency that funds high-risk research. In this graph it appears mainly as the employer of a few officials. The UAP claims attached to it are unverified.

Leaders and counterparts. Steven Walker was director when he named Peter Highnam deputy director in 2018. Highnam, earlier a DARPA program manager (1999 to 2003), was twice acting director. Victoria Coleman became the 22nd director in September 2020, and Stefanie Tompkins followed in March 2021. IARPA, the intelligence community's counterpart, and the UK's ARIA are both modeled on DARPA.

UAP claims. A June 2026 video by the YouTube researcher UAP Gerb names DARPA's Security and Intelligence Directorate as a protector of UFO "legacy programs". The claim has no second source. The directorate is DARPA's ordinary program-protection and security office. Retired CIA officer Jim Semivan says his materials and videos went to a DARPA laboratory; nobody has independently verified his account.

Programs. Project PANDORA, a 1965 to 1970 study of microwave radiation and the brain, is listed as founded by DARPA.
