Experiencer Study

Experiencer study covers anything to do with the study of people who say they have experienced the phenomenon.

On the health and biology side, Kit Green says he wrote a 2010 paper, produced under the Defense Intelligence Agency's AAWSAP program, that forensically assessed injuries that could have resulted from claimed UAP encounters. He told Popular Mechanics that every injury he assessed could be accounted for by known terrestrial means. Garry Nolan, a Stanford immunologist, is known for investigating UAP-related biological effects and the physiology of experiencers.

Former CIA officer Jim Semivan says that Col. John Alexander visited him, interviewed him about his own anomalous encounters, and collected his materials and videos, which Semivan says went to a DARPA laboratory; the account is uncorroborated and contested.

The academic side of the field divided over what experiencers' accounts are. John Mack read them as transformational events and was agnostic about their physical reality, while Budd Hopkins and David Jacobs read them as a physical and threatening program. Skeptical research on sleep paralysis, hypnotic memory recovery and personality traits offers a third reading; both camps agree experiencers are not generally psychotic. See MIT Abduction Study Conference (1992) and Harvard Medical School Review of John Mack (1994-95).

The Arizona baiting experiment was an experiencer-study experiment in Arizona. Its date is not publicly documented.
