ARIA (Advanced Research and Invention Agency)
ARIA, the Advanced Research and Invention Agency, is the UK government's £800M high-risk research funder, explicitly modelled on DARPA. [S] In February 2022 it named then-DARPA deputy director Peter T. Highnam as its first chief executive, on a five-year term due to begin that May; he withdrew six weeks later, before starting, citing personal reasons — reported as a serious blow to the agency's launch.
