DIA Defense Intelligence Agency
The Defense Intelligence Agency is the U.S. Defense Department's military-intelligence agency. In this graph it is a partner in Project Grill Flame and the contracting agency for AAWSAP.
Remote viewing. Project GRILL FLAME (1978 to 1982) was a joint DIA and Army program, run through INSCOM, to investigate the military potential of remote viewing and psychokinesis. From 1980 DIA managed its outside contracts and research. The Army's share was curtailed in 1982 after congressional action, and DIA kept oversight. DIA also kept in contact with the CIA, which by DIA's own description had no parallel remote-viewing program then. Whether Grill Flame led to the Stargate Project is not established.
AAWSAP. AAWSAP was a DIA contract that paid Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies about $21.9 million from September 2008 to study aerospace technology out to 2050. It produced the DIRD papers and ended in 2012. Accounts differ on what the money was for: a study of Skinwalker Ranch, a route to crash-retrieval material that Lockheed Martin allegedly held, or only what the contract says. The solicitation and contract support the last. In June 2009 Harry Reid asked the Pentagon to make AAWSAP a special access program. After a DIA review, James Clapper, a former DIA director then serving as Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, recommended against it, and the Pentagon declined.
Kit Green told Popular Mechanics he wrote one DIRD paper as a paid contractor and was not part of AAWSAP.
