Pentacle memo

[!warning] Authorship correction (2026-09-14) This note previously carried developer: [Jacques Vallee](/entities/492), asserting Vallée as originator of a 1953 document. That is wrong and was published on the public graph. The memo was written by H. C. Cross, Director of Exotic Metallurgy at Battelle Memorial Institute, on 9 January 1953, addressed to Miles E. Goll for the attention of Capt. Edward J. Ruppelt. Vallée's actual role is discoverer: he found the two-page memo in 1967 while organising Hynek's files and gave its then-unknown author the codename "Pentacle" in Forbidden Science.
