H. C. Cross
H. C. Cross was a Battelle Memorial Institute scientist and the signatory of the two-page "Pentacle Memorandum" (dated January 9, 1953, addressed to Miles E. Goll at Wright-Patterson AFB). The document is often mis-attributed in secondary UAP literature to Thomas Townsend Brown, who is not named anywhere in it. Jacques Vallée, who found the memo in J. Allen Hynek's papers in 1967, assigned the "Pentacle" code name specifically to shield the true author's identity — implying even Cross may not be the actual originator. [S1]
