AFOSI Office of Special Projects (PJ)

AFOSI/PJ, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations' Office of Special Projects, is the counterintelligence and security organization tasked with safeguarding the Air Force's most sensitive research, development and acquisition special access programs. Under AFI 90-201, AFOSI/PJ provides the Security Inspection Lead for Headquarters Air Force SAP inspections, working with the AF SAPCO at SAF/AAZ (Air Force SAP Central Office) [S1].

Together with SAF/AQ, PJ and SAF/AAZ form the actual Air Force SAP security chain — the structure that claims about other organizations' roles in special access oversight must be measured against, including those made about the AFLCMC Information Protection Directorate.

PJ recurs in UAP research as an alleged enforcement arm of legacy programs, with attention focused on its executive directors. Those allegations are not assessed here and require their own sourcing.
