Stan Romanek
Stan Romanek of Loveland, Colorado, claimed repeated alien contact. His claims included abductions, an implant, equations that came to him in the night, and the "Boo" video of a face at his window. He wrote Messages (2009) and was the subject of the 2013 documentary Extraordinary: The Stan Romanek Story. The documentary features phone calls in which a woman's voice calls him "Starseed", which Grant Cameron later described as the Audrey phone calls [S1][S2].
Debunked evidence
None of Romanek's alien-related claims has been corroborated [S1]:
- The Boo video: a paranormal research group recreated it for about $90.
- Polygraph: he failed one on whether the video was a hoax.
- The implant: it "disappeared" before it could be tested.
- Faked activity: in 2015 he was caught on camera faking poltergeist activity.
Cameron nonetheless calls him "the most famous abductee in UFO history" and treats the equations as evidence [S3].
Criminal case
Romanek was arrested in February 2014 after an investigation into child sexual abuse material on his devices [S4]. On 8 August 2017 a jury convicted him of one count of sexual exploitation of a child (possession) and acquitted him of a second count [S5]. He was sentenced on 14 December 2017 to two years in community corrections and 10 years of probation as a registered sex offender [S6]. Romanek and his wife say his computer was hacked to silence him [S4].
