William "Billy" Brophy Jr.
William "Billy" Brophy Jr. is the identified source of the modern, embellished version of the 1933 Magenta Crash (Cabinet RS/33) story. A Metabunk analysis (crediting Brian Dunning's Skeptoid and researcher Douglas Johnson) traced elements such as the bell / Die Glocke craft shape, the Pope's "backchanneling," and the U.S. recovery not to the original 1996 Fascist UFO Files but to letters Brophy wrote in the 2000s–2010s, retelling stories his father allegedly told him in the 1970s after watching the TV show In Search Of — later cross-pollinated with Nazi "Die Glocke" lore and Jacques Vallee's Trinity research [S1].
