A Six-Level Model for Unidentified Aerospace Phenomena
"Incommensurability, Orthodoxy and the Physics of High Strangeness: A 6-layer Model for Anomalous Phenomena" was presented by Jacques Vallee and Eric W. Davis at the Forum "Ciencia, Religiao e Consciencia" at Fernando Pessoa University, Porto, Portugal, 23-25 October 2003, and printed in the proceedings at pp. 223-239 [S23][S24].
Beyond its argument, the paper is the single most useful dating artefact in either man's record. Its author footnote reads: "Jacques Vallee has a PhD in Astronomy and Science Compu[t]ers; Eric Davis has a PhD in Physics; both are consulting members of the National Institute for Discovery Science, Las Vegas, Nevada" [S23]. That line places both men at NIDS on a fixed date, and is the documentary basis for the relationship between them in this graph.
Note that the footnote's description of Vallee's doctorate as being in astronomy is contradicted by the archival record of the dissertation itself, which is in information retrieval [S7].
