SAF/AQ (Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics)
SAF/AQ is the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics — the Air Force Service Acquisition Executive. It oversees an "annual budget in excess of $60 billion for more than 550 acquisition programs" across the service [S1]. Program executive officers at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center and other acquisition centers report through SAF/AQ.
SAF/AQ is a recurring focus of UAP research into Air Force research, development, test and evaluation, on the reasoning that any acquisition of exotic technology would require administrative cover somewhere in this chain. Donna D. Shipton served as its Military Deputy from August 2022 to December 2023 before taking command of AFLCMC [S2].
