Air Force Special Weapons Center
The Air Force Special Weapons Center (AFSWC) at Kirtland AFB worked on fitting nuclear weapons to Air Force aircraft and missiles in the 1950s. In 1956 the Air Research and Development Command transferred the Blast Effects Structures Group from Wright-Patterson to Kirtland to develop design criteria for underground structures [S1]. Eric H. Wang led that group and wrote AFSWC technical notes on its six-foot shock tube [S2].
