Schumer UAP Disclosure Act
The Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Disclosure Act was a 2023 Senate proposal from Chuck Schumer, with Mike Rounds, to gather the government's UAP records in one national archive and open them to the public. Most of it did not become law. A reduced version went into the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act, signed on 22 December 2023, as sections 1841 to 1843. They set up a government-wide UAP records collection at the National Archives and a review of those records against criteria under which release can be postponed [S1]. Journalists described the result as a heavily watered-down version of the bill; its power to take UAP-related material from private holders by eminent domain was dropped in conference [S2].
