Bray Names Sarbacher as Smith's Source
In 1982 Arthur Bray told the annual MUFON symposium that he had reviewed Wilbert Smith's notes and that Smith's Washington source was Robert Sarbacher [S1]. The same year Leonard Stringfield's UFO Crash/Retrieval: Status Report III publicised the interview. That led William Steinman to track Sarbacher down [S2], which produced the 1983 letter. It is this disclosure, not the "1978" date that often circulates, that set off the modern interest in the Smith memo.
