McDonald Observatory
McDonald Observatory, operated by the University of Texas at Austin, is where Jacques Vallee held a research-associate post in astronomy under Gerard de Vaucouleurs after moving to the United States in 1962 [S2]. He worked there on what became NASA's first detailed map of Mars, and was still describing himself as a consultant to the Mars Map Project in 1965 [S1].
