Yellow Fruit

Yellow Fruit was a classified U.S. Army operation set up in 1982 under Lt. Col. Dale Duncan. It worked behind a front company, Business Security International, to provide operational security for other covert Army activity [S1]. In the autumn of 1983, people working for the front company alleged that Duncan had stolen or misused tens of thousands of dollars [S1]. The unit was disbanded in December 1983, a year after it was organized [S2]. Duncan was later convicted by an Army court of financial improprieties and security violations, and sentenced to seven years; a second officer, Longhofer, was also court-martialed [S3].

Place in UAP narratives

Some UAP accounts say Yellow Fruit's exposure forced hidden programs into deeper cover. The Pentagon's first policy directive on special access programs (DoDD O-5205.7) is dated 4 January 1989, more than five years later. No source found so far links that directive to Yellow Fruit specifically [S4].
