Institute for Defense Analyses

The Institute for Defense Analyses is a federally funded research and development centre that does analysis for the Department of Defense. Eric Walker was associated with it from 1958 and later became its chairman. Sources disagree on whether the chairmanship began in 1978 or 1981 [S1]. His papers at Penn State contain extensive IDA files, including security-clearance material [S1].
